losing our own war
The United States is a democracy and nothing else...
Lord help the guy who one day decides we should become a dictatorship, because only the Lord knows what the U.S will do in retaliation. I accept each country’s right to govern itself how it sees fit. In our lives, we all know people who have traditions that are different from our own, and they may be seen as “weird” because we aren’t use to things that way. But that doesn’t make it wrong, just different, and people accept it. I’m all for helping the fellow man, but at some point the U.S. needs to realize that we have our own war to fight. I can list over a hundred things the U.S. needs to focus on within its own soil.

We often stroll along the streets of our own cities and find people that are homeless; parents, kids, the elderly, and veterans asking for money and hoping someone will give them just enough to eat or drink, whichever is most important to them. It’s sad and ironic to watch hundreds of people sleeping outside the White House with nowhere to go at night, yet we air commercials asking for funding for impoverished countries.
We see advertisements on helping to educate and provide learning utensils for children in other countries, when our own youth in the U.S. lack adequate education and lack the proper books and learning equipment. I’m not saying we shouldn’t help, I’m simply saying we must take care of home first.

Almost always, when the President speaks on “why” we should interfere in other countries’ business, it has to do with the harshness of violence. Obama recently made a statement about the violence in Syria, “You didn’t see the pictures of children dead in the streets and parents holding their dead bodies screaming for them to get up.” What about the parents whose kids are kidnapped every day just playing outside their homes? Or the black on black violence, violence among our youth, school massacres of innocent juveniles, and just the amount of violence itself in the United States? Think about that…
Let’s not get started on the debt the U.S. has placed itself in and the fact that we still continue to dig a hole while wasting money fighting for other countries. Don’t get me wrong, I understand the U.S. is strong and powerful, but even the strong become weak. Who’s going to help us?
Who’s fighting for the U.S.? America is always fighting for others, but who has our back? Who’s fighting for us right here in America? Look at it this way, a mother neglects her child and that child will reflect that in his/her behavior; now look at the U.S. Aren’t we acting out?

Being BLK in America
Race does matter and admitting that mere fact doesn’t make you racist, it just says you are aware that race and racism are still an issue. I think people are afraid to admit that there is an issue due to fear that they may seem racist, but then again, maybe you are racist. Race is in everything, from forms of employment, to medical paperwork, to social services, and to education. The media helps with this division of blacks and whites too; just look at the number of black violence stories shown versus white violence stories. When an African American does something great, the “black” label is always placed before their accomplishment, as we saw/see with Gabby Douglas, Serena Williams, and President Obama.
Colin Kaepernick, quarterback for the San Francisco Forty-Niners, made a statement in an article written by Time Sports Magazine:
“I don’t ever want to take it to a race level. But, I mean, even with a lot of the quarterbacks in the league who are black, it’s ‘oh you’re a black quarterback,’ or ‘you’re just a running quarterback.’ And I think that’s another stereotype that I feel like I’m trying to break. It’s a touchy subject, ’cause I never want to take it there, where it seems like it’s all about race. But I feel like that’s something that comes along with the territory of being a black quarterback. When you have success it’s like ‘Oh, you’re a freak athlete.’ Not, ‘Oh, you’re a good quarterback.’ And I think that’s a barrier that needs to be broken down.”

Okay, it wouldn’t be fair if I didn’t speak to the black community and remind them that perception is reality, meaning, how you portray yourself is usually how people will view you. African American guys, pull up your pants, and stop posting pictures of your guns, drugs, and money on social networking sites (they used Trayvon’s pictures against him in his own murder trial). Be curious to the people around you and stop using the “N” word and stop killing each other. How can we fight for injustice when we are harming our own people, doing exactly what we are trying to fight against?
We are all different in the way we look, walk, talk, and act, but in order to get along we must accept one another’s differences. Being different makes up the United States of America, but we all have a right to be treated equally and live on this soil so get over it, get along, and try to understand that everyone has a story.
